I understand that this headline may seem a little harsh, but when you uplevel the people you hang out with, you’ll find some interesting shifts in the way that you think and act. I don’t want you to think of this as ditching your old Golf Polo in favour of a new model Porsche. You can still drive the Golf on weekends.

All I’m suggesting is that the Porsche may take you to new places and give you new experiences that you wouldn’t have otherwise known possible.

So here’s 5 reasons why I think you should think about whether it’s time to uplevel the people you hang out with.

Challenge and expand your thinking

Have you ever been in a group program, a course or even worked with a coach? Even following someone new and outside your current circle of biz buddies can do wonders for challenging the way that you look at yourself and your business.

Changing the people around you can give you a renewed sense of energy that you need to make a significant impact on your business.

Get the support you need

There’s nothing quite like being a part of a community of like-minded people. It may be time you ditched that toxic Facebook Group and swapped it one with more positivity and support (check out The Content Project if this is what you’re looking for). You may need to unfollow people who are no longer in line with your values or beliefs. Maybe it’s time to join a new networking group.

When you have people who are ready to cheer on your successes or be there for you when things don’t go to plan, anything is possible!

Push you outside your comfort zone

We can easily get stuck in Groundhog Day – doing the same things over and over. Yes, it may be easy and you may be successful doing it, but what else could be possible if you did something different, or tried a new platform, or launched more often, or even started a podcast?

Outside our comfort zone is where we learn new skills and where the greatest momentum is made with our personal growth, Yes, it’s scary. And yes, it’s really hard to do, but when you move in communities where this is encouraged and supported, you’ll find yourself doing things you never thought possible.

Get your butt into action (aka accountability)

Hanging out with doers is the best way to become a doer yourself. Instead of being around people who only see the problems and reasons why it can’t be done, imagine being swept up in the energy of people who not only can see the solutions, but swiftly move into action.

Accountability is also probably one of the biggest contributors to business and personal growth. It’s like having a personal trainer. You’re accountable to turn up when you say you’ll turn up and you need to do the work to achieve the results that you’re aiming for.

Accountability is one of the main reasons that so many people do well with 1:1 coaching. They make a commitment to someone and don’t want to let them down, so the thing gets actioned!

I know that I’ve done more in the time I’ve spent with coaches because of the simple fact of accountability.

One step closer to your vision

Having a vision usually means that you have a big dream that you want to achieve. By uplevelling who you hang out with, I believe that you’ll get the support, the energy and accountability you need of people who are also visionary. You’ll get closer to achieving your vision.

Is it time for you to find a new community to be part of? One that’s full of like-minded women who are uplifting, encouraging and who’ve got your back? One where you feel excited by your momentum, knowing that you’re finally making progress towards your dream business and vision?

If this sounds like something you need, then check out my monthly membership The Content Effect, inspiring women like you to create stand out content that gets you noticed and remembered. Look forward to seeing you on the inside.
