How a virtual assistant can help with repurposing content

February 26, 2019

Repurposing your content is one of the easiest ways to save yourself time. It gets exhausting if you feel like you continually need to come up with something new. What if you could take what you already had and turn it into something different?

That’s what repurposing is all about. And the best bit is that you don’t have to do it! It’s a perfect task for a virtual assistant. Here are a few ideas to get your repurposing happening.

Facebook Lives

Do you record Facebook Lives? Here’s a little tip for you – if you record them in portrait, then you can also upload them to Instagram’s IGTV. You can also upload to, or link from your website. If you record them in landscape you can repurpose them for YouTube.

Either way, set a process in place that once you record a Facebook Live, your virtual assistant knows that they can download, save in a shared folder and then upload to the next relevant platform. You can even have your virtual assistant write your YouTube summary, add keywords or create a beautiful tile in Canva. Bonus points if you’re on Pinterest as they can create a post for you there too!

Blogs

Blogs should be the backbone of your content. I’ve written before about why you need a blog, whether you should get someone to write it for you and even how a virtual assistant could help you with your blogs!

Blogs are the easiest piece of content to promote and repurpose as there is so many different ways you can manipulate and create new ideas from the one piece of writing.

Once again, put a process in place so that when you write a blog, a whole raft of tasks are put in motion by your virtual assistant. Here are some ways that a virtual assistant could help you repurpose your blogs:

Tips: Have you noticed how my blogs usually have subheadings? Each subheading is a valuable piece of standalone content. Your virtual assistant can use these headings to create ‘tips’ for you to share on social media. Once published, they simply copy the heading and relevant paragraph into a spreadsheet ready for you, or someone else to use when needed. A great example of this in action is using them for #tip days in Facebook Groups.

Graphics: This includes specially designed graphics for uploading to the blog itself on your website, or alternatively creating a graphic that you can share on social media. This is particularly great for a platform like Instagram or Pinterest where it is image related.

Quotes: Why not turn snippets of the blog into a unique quote? A virtual assistant can plough back through your already published blogs and pull out specific sentences that you could use as a talking point on social media. Get them to also create a graphic template, and in no time you will have a heap of content to share quickly and easily!

Schedule: It’s no point having all of this content designed and created for you if you’re not sharing it. Once you have a system in place, a virtual assistant can then go and schedule it for you directly onto Facebook, or to various platforms via a third party scheduler.

I hope this has given you some great ideas on how to use a virtual assistant when you’re repurposing content. If you would like to learn more about how to repurpose content, join me at my next webinar “Creating Content with Ease”.
