Have you ever felt like you’re pouring your energy into content but it’s just not landing?

You’re showing up, sharing your expertise, doing all the things, but the right people don’t seem to be listening. Maybe you’ve evolved, your business has shifted, or your confidence is growing but your content hasn’t quite caught up.

This often happens when we don’t have clarity on who we’re actually speaking to. Or we’re trying to speak to everyone, hoping the right people will catch on.

Here’s how you can create content that connects with the right people and brings more ease, intention, and trust into your content strategy.

But first – what’s the difference between audience, niche and ideal client?

These three terms often get used interchangeably—but understanding the difference will help you create content that’s not only powerful, but purposeful.

Here’s how I like to think about it:

  • Audience: This is the wider group of people who see and follow your content. They might like your posts, cheer you on, and enjoy what you share but they’re not necessarily the people who need your services or are ready to work with you. And that’s okay.
  • Niche: This is the problem you solve or the space you hold in your industry. It’s about what you’re known for, not who you serve. It helps position your voice in a way that’s clear and focused.
  • Ideal client: These are your people. The ones who feel like you’re speaking directly to them. They’re the ones your content, offers, and energy are made for. When you know who they are, you stop trying to create for the algorithm and start creating for real humans who need what you offer.

Intentional content starts with clarity

When you’re not sure who you’re talking to, content creation starts to feel heavy, frustrating and inconsistent.

But when you shift your focus to your ideal client, something beautiful happens:

✨ You feel more confident
✨ Your ideas flow more easily
✨ Your message builds trust

So ask yourself:

  • Who do I truly feel called to support?
  • What are they struggling with?
  • How do I want them to feel when they come across my content?

Go beyond demographics

One of the biggest mistakes I see is stopping at surface-level details like age or job title.
Your ideal client isn’t “women aged 30–50 who want to grow a business.” She’s real. She’s layered. And she’s more than a set of data points.

Get curious about what she believes, what keeps her stuck, and what she secretly wishes was possible. This is where your most powerful content comes from.

Empathy: The most underrated content strategy

If you take one thing away from this, let it be this: As a heart-lead entrepreneur, empathy is your superpower.

When your content shows someone that you get what they’re going through (when they feel seen, safe, and understood) that’s where real trust begins.

Try asking yourself:

  • What’s frustrating them right now?
  • What are they too afraid to admit?
  • How can I speak to that in a way that’s kind and supportive?

Create content that meets them where she’s at

Instead trying to be everywhere, start creating content that gently guides your ideal client through her journey from first discovering you, to trusting you, to being ready to work with you.

Think about:

  • What is she thinking or feeling when she finds me?
  • What questions or doubts is she holding?
  • What would help her feel safe to take the next step?

Your content isn’t just about information,  it’s about connection. It’s not about being the loudest voice in the room. It’s about being the one that understands.

Let it evolve

It’s okay if it your ideal client changes as you do. Your voice, your focus, your content all grow with you.

So pause and reflect:

  • Where am I holding back in my message?
  • What kind of content feels easy and true for me to create?
  • When do I feel most connected to my audience?

You don’t have to connect with everyone. But when you connect with the right people, that’s when content feels purposeful again.

Let your content do more than perform. Let it build trust

When you know your ideal client deeply and create with intention, your content starts to work in the way you always hoped it would. Not because it’s louder. But because it’s true to you.

So if your content has been feeling off or disconnected, this is your invitation to come back to the heart of it: connection, empathy, and clarity.
