Creating an online course sounds like one of those huge, energy-zapping projects that sits on your to-do list forever. But with the right tools, a little prep, and a solid strategy, it’s totally possible to bring a course to life in just one day.
Whether you’re looking to grow your email list, make some sales, or simply serve your audience in a deeper way, having an evergreen course or mini training tucked inside your business is a beautiful asset.
Here’s how I did it—and how you can too.
Step 1: Get the Ideas Flowing with AI
I spent just 30 minutes brainstorming with ChatGPT to get my creative wheels turning. I didn’t force it. I simply explored ideas that aligned with the bundles I knew I’d be part of (like Content That Converts and Simple Marketing Bundle).
Hot tip: The more you ‘train’ your AI and get comfy with it, the better your results will be. But also—don’t be afraid to go off script and follow your intuition. You know your audience best.
Step 2: Map It Out with a Course Outline
Next up: structure. I gave myself an hour to work on the outline. Sometimes AI helps here too—but for my Confident Content Creator course, I ditched the bot and leaned into my own process as it decided to go rogue. Either way, you want to feel good about the flow of your course before you hit record.
Step 3: Create Your Slides in Canva
This part always feels fun to me! I reused existing templates I already had set up in Canva and adapted them to suit the course. Having a base design that reflects your brand? Such a timesaver.
This step took around two hours but probably would’ve taken way longer if I didn’t already have templates and visual assets ready to go.
Step 4: Set It All Up in Kajabi (In 30 Minutes Flat!)
When I say Kajabi is my secret weapon, I mean it. I pulled everything together inside my Kajabi dashboard in less than 30 minutes, including creating the course structure and uploading my thumbnails and images.
If you’re not using Kajabi yet, you can check it out here. I genuinely love it, and yes, that’s my affiliate link. I only share tools I use and stand behind
Step 5: Create a Checkout Page (and Add a Coupon!)
Kajabi makes it super easy to create a product checkout page, even with a coupon. This step took me 15 minutes tops. I used AI to help me write the copy and then matched it with my brand colours and fonts.
Just like that—my course was ready to go out into the world. If you’re curious, you can try Kajabi here and see how easy it is to create your own checkout process.
Step 6: Add an Automated Email Sequence
Automation doesn’t have to be complicated. I set up a simple two-email sequence in Kajabi, triggered by coupon usage (not product purchase). It’s a subtle difference that lets you tailor the experience based on where your audience comes from.
This part took 15 minutes and saved me hours in follow-up time.
Step 7: Record Your Training with Zoom
Recording took about two hours, but it’s worth giving yourself grace here. If it spills into the next day, that’s okay too. My tip? Just press record and keep going. Don’t worry about being perfect—you can always edit later.
Step 8: Edit with Descript
I love Descript for simple, clean video editing. I spent about 90 minutes trimming the recording, speeding up my playback time to move through edits faster. Bonus? You can export your video, audio, and transcripts. Absolutely perfect for different learning styles.
Bonus Step: Weave in Your Content Ecosystem
Once your course is done, think about how you can extend its life. Link to a quiz. Direct people to your podcast. Point them to your best blog post. This helps create a content ecosystem that keeps people engaged and moving toward your paid offers.
Final Thoughts (and a Loving Nudge)
- What if you stopped waiting until it’s perfect and just created something with what you already know?
- What would feel fun to create in a day?
- And how could you reimagine something you’ve already created into a powerful new resource?
Creating this course not only helped me grow my email list by 10% when I included it in a bundle but it reminded me how much is possible when we stop overthinking and start trusting our process.
You don’t need a massive audience. You don’t need months of prep.
You do need a strategy, a bit of focus, and the right tools.
If Kajabi’s calling your name, here’s my affiliate link to get started. I use it every day in my business and honestly couldn’t imagine creating courses or doing content marketing without it.

How Minimum Viable Content saved my sanity – and my business
I created the concept of MVC in one of those seasons of life where business-as-usual just wasn’t possible. My work hours shrank from over 30 hours a week to barely five. I was tired. Pulled in too many directions.
