Every year, I like to pause and take stock. Not to tick boxes or judge myself, but to really notice what happened personally, professionally and in my business.
2025 felt different. Quieter. Slower. Not full of big wins or flashy moments. And at first, that felt a little disappointing. But when I slowed down and really reflected, I realised how much was happening beneath the surface.
Have you ever had a year that felt “less than” on the outside, but quietly shifted everything on the inside?
Personal moments that mattered
Turning 50 was a milestone that I felt didn’t need a big party. I celebrated with small, meaningful moments, a day retreat with a friend, a family getaway, and a best friend’s wedding. These moments reminded me of the importance of presence, connection, and joy in everyday life.
Even in business, the lessons from life creep in. Being with family, taking space and celebrating others are the things that carry into how we show up with our clients, our community and ourselves.
Business reflections
This year in my business wasn’t about big growth in numbers or high visibility. I participated in a couple of bundles, recorded a handful of guest podcast episodes, and ran two in-person meetups with The Content Effect members. That’s it.
And that’s enough. Because each of those moments mattered. They created connection. They reminded me why I do this work. They reinforced that consistency isn’t about perfection but rather it’s about showing up in a way that feels doable, authentic, and aligned with what’s possible in this season of life.
Looking at the numbers
Yes, numbers exist. But this year, the stats told a different story. Podcast downloads were down 25 percent, and my email list grew by less than 10 percent. On paper, it could look disappointing.
But each download and each subscriber is a real human choosing to connect with me. Fifty podcast episodes were published, even if not every week went perfectly. That consistency mattered more than any raw statistic.
Lessons from 2025
Some of the biggest lessons this year weren’t in the big milestones. They were in the small, quiet moments:
- Consistency doesn’t mean rigidity. Life shifts, and your business will shift too. That’s okay.
- Depth of connection matters more than reach. Real, face-to-face or heartfelt online connections give more energy than chasing numbers.
- Personal milestones influence professional growth. What nourishes you in life will ripple into your work.
Moving into 2026
Looking forward, 2025 has prepared me to show up more intentionally. To focus on what matters. To value connection over metrics, and alignment over output.
Your next year doesn’t need to start with a long list of goals. Sometimes it begins with reflection, noticing what worked, what shifted, and what brought joy.
Growth isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s quiet, cumulative, and invisible—until you look back and see how far you’ve come.

Embracing the Power of Core Content
Burning out on social media isn’t a badge of honour. It’s a signal. Your content should energise you, not drain you. Core content lets you build something lasting, meaningful, and aligned with your heart.
