Recently I had the opportunity to spend three whole days working on my self development. Besides having the luxury of not one, but two whole uninterrupted showers, it was one of the most insightful time that I’ve ever spent on myself.

I have always been a big believer in purpose and meaning but felt that I’d drifted away and lost my focus on this a little. When you’re in a big corporate, your performance, goals and purpose are constantly being evaluated and re-evaluated. But when you don’t have that constant monitoring and accountability, self development kind of falls to the wayside. Such is the life of an entrepreneur!

At Suzi Petrozzi’s The Empowered Woman Live Retreat I was able to understand a lot more about the way I think and why I think it. And then kick my self sabotaging beliefs in the butt and rewrite my new beliefs, which I now have pinned on my board as a reminder.

I was most excited though to be able to spend a whole day working on my vision, mission and purpose. (The image for this post is my visual representation of it). It is truly empowering to be able to face every day knowing exactly why you are about to do something, knowing that every decision you will make will be aligned with your purpose. Because you’re clear. And you’re so in tune with your beliefs that you can be present in everything that you do.

But one of the most poignant takeaways for me is that knowing that we are, and always will be, a work in progress. Even though people may seem from the outside that they have their stuff together, and they are living a perfect life, they too are always facing new challenges and opportunities for growth and development.

A case in point is a recent episode of The Quiet Rebels, a podcast by Mai-Kee Tsang. Quite coincidentally I subscribed to the podcast after hearing Mai-Kee Tsang speak on The Elevatory podcast. She was talking about guest podcasting and that got me interested so I started following her. But more on that later!

Today Mai-Kee was exceptionally brave and shared a BIG piece of news that she had been very scared to even share with her conservative family. But she had decided to share it with her listeners so she could step more fully into her purpose with conviction and authenticity. She also talked about how we are all a work in progress. And that really resonated with me – again!

Now to come full circle, I want to share a small part of my purpose:

“I want to share my love and knowledge, to inspire, teach and encourage others to allow us all to live a fulfilled and connected life.”

Diving deeper into the ‘how’ this was going to be achieved, guest podcasting came to mind. Thanks Mai-Kee! It’s funny how little hints are thrown at you in life and it’s up to us to bring them altogether to make sense.

So, the message that I wanted to share with you today is to take a moment to reflect, to be kind and to take the pressure off yourself. You don’t need all the answers right now. You don’t need all the things right now. You are enough – just as you are, right now.
