Content marketing can often feel like an overwhelming part of our business. We know how important it is to grow a profitable business, which places added pressure on us to ‘get it right ‘.

At it’s very heart, content marketing is simply the information and experiences that are directed toward an end user or audience. It’s all those things that we put out into the digital world to educate, entertain or inspire our ideal client.

Here’s five reasons why content marketing is so important, especially for women in business.

Allows your ideal client to identify with you

What are the things that make you unique? When you clearly know your values, beliefs and ‘why’, you’ll attract more people to you. And the beauty of the people that you’ll attract is that they’ll be aligned with what you stand for and will be more likely to purchase from you in the future.

When we use our content marketing to help our ideal client learn more about us, we are letting them into a small part of our lives so that we can begin the client journey with them.

Moves them along the client journey

Once we’ve made the first connection with our ideal client, we can use content marketing to move them through the client journey with us.

client journey

Providing them with the right content at the right time is the key to take them from not knowing anything about you, through to becoming a raving fan.

Content marketing will help you identify where the bottlenecks are occurring in your client journey and allows you to then focus on creating content that specific part of the journey.

Adds value to your ideal client’s life

Every single piece of content you create has an impact on someone. I know this is a big call, but it truly does. It may have little or no impact on them – they may scroll on past. It may have some impact on them – they may consume your podcast or blog. It may have a big impact on them – they buy your thing.

The thing to remember is that there is a human on the end of every single piece of content that you create. So, create it with purpose.

Increases your visibility

Visibility = perceived expertise. I know that many of you may not want to hear this, but to be seen as the go-to expert in your niche, you first need to be seen!

Often for women this is a difficult thing to do as we don’t want to be seen as big noting ourselves. But the fact is, the more that your ideal client sees your face and hears what you have to say, the more likely they’ll see you as an expert and the more likely that they’ll buy from you.

Having a strong and consistent content marketing strategy in place will ensure that your message and knowledge is being shared on a regular basis.

Remember, visibility doesn’t always have to come through content that you create. I love guesting strategies as a part of content marketing to increase your audience, spread your message and connect with new people.

Easy and cost effective, even when you outsource.

We are so fortunate to have so many different ways to produce and promote our content for little or no cost. So, content marketing is an extremely cost effective part of our business strategy. Even if we choose to advertise, we can do this with minimum outlay.

But the most exciting part of content marketing is when you have your processes in place, it becomes so easy to outsource those parts that don’t lift you up or that can be done more easily by others.

As women, it’s often difficult for us to ask for help, so it’s important to know that if we want to grow our business, then we also need to grow a team!

Whilst all pieces of our business are important, content marketing is the key to helping our ideal clients get to know who we are, see us as the expert and want to buy from us.
