When you’re feeling uninspired and stuck for content ideas, the mere thought of creating content for your beautiful ideal client can feel hard and heavy.

If you’re feeling like this, firstly I want you to know that you’re not alone. Everyone, including myself, goes through periods when it feels difficult to come up with ideas, let alone create something inspirational or educational.

Here’s four things that I do when I feel stuck for content ideas.

Take a break

Whilst consistency is your friend when it comes to content strategy, visibility and making more sales, trying to push through is going to bring a heavy energy to your content. When you feel like you ‘should’ be doing something, that pressure is enough to make you not want to do it!

Take a break from creating and/or consuming content. Refresh your creativity and find inspiration outside of your business.

What can you do differently in your day? How can you share this story with your audience?

Perhaps you need a day in nature, some retail therapy or time to find new people to follow or new communities to be a part of.

I love to bake. When I need to take a break from life, business, creating. I find that baking whilst listening to my favourite Spotify playlist (Chillout Sessions does it for me ) helps detox my mind and find the creativity and joy in the little things again.

There’s inspiration everywhere. You just need to find the joy in creating again.

Reimagine

I love to talk about the power of reimagination (check out episode 10 of The Powerful Content Podcast). And whilst you can go back to a blog, podcast or video that you’ve created in the past and use it as a source of content ideas for social media, I also believe that there is no harm in directly reposting content from the past.

Even if you’re the only person someone follows, they’re not going to remember the exact content that you’ve posted a year ago. Simply go into Meta Business Suite, sort your published content by date and repost a few pieces of content to keep you going whilst you rediscover your content mojo!

Work with your strengths

When you’re working with ‘shoulds’ instead of our strengths, content creation (and coming up with content ideas) is hard.

When you tap into what we’re good at and what we enjoy doing, the content ideas are more likely to flow.

Instead of feeling like you MUST come up with ideas for Instagram Reels, switch to something else that feels easy for you.

Ditching the ‘shoulds’ is a simple and freeing way of giving yourself permission to do what you love instead!

Collaborate

When you’re feeling stuck with your content and have no ideas, find other business owners to inspire you! Share ideas, perspectives and find ways to collaborate. Perhaps you could do a series of Facebook Lives with other business owners. Or create a special bundle of offers. You could even run a giveaway! Collaboration is one of my favourite ways to generate motivation and inspiration.

Through taking a break, reimagining your content, working with your strengths and collaborating with others, you’ll be able to find the motivation you need to get yourself unstuck for content ideas.

If you still need help to come up with ideas, I’m running a workshop series from Monday 23 October to guide you through a process to come up with a year’s worth of content ideas. At the end of the 3 days, you’ll have enough content ideas to fill your content calendar for 2024 and a repeatable way of making sure that you’re never stuck for content ideas again. You can sign up to the series here. Can’t wait to see you there!
